A note for KDE4 (kdebase) translators:
in default configuration of keyboard layout switcher, kxkb (which uses
libxklavier for retrieving layout information from x.org) the translations
for layouts, variants, keyboard models and xkb option are fetched from
xorg.xml which is part of xkeyboard-config package (
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/XKeyboardConfig).
Those strings are not part of KDE and won't be duplicated so to see kxkb
(and it's settings) fully translated you have to take care to translate
xkeyboard-config information for your language and have updated version of
xkeyboard-config (or x.org depending on packaging policy of your
distribution).

Currently (as a temporary hack) kxkb will only try to translate existing
layout names with available KDE translations for country names. Though this
is poor man's translation (for many reasons) and may be removed in the
future.

Please let me know if you have any questions,
Andriy
