Yes, anything starting by # and a space will be kept. (To be exact the second 
character could be something else, but a space is highly recommended.)

I suppose that the HOWTO would need a big re-write. Unfortunately, I have 
currently no time to do it and I am rather sure that no other volunteer will 
step up to that re-write (or is there somebody?).
