Just some sidenotes to help out with these, since coolo is right, most of the 
names are more or less random, and I imagine translating these without a 
reference point will be very difficult :)

These seem to be the original X named colors, which on my system are defined 
in RGB triplets in the file: /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/rgb.txt

The names got reused when Netscape first started supporting interesting things 
like colors, and are the ones that you can use in HTML to set colours by name 
(with the interesting side effect that most browsers, if you use a bad 
spelling, will use the nearest match alphabetically, an effect which had the 
KDE help pages turn lime green for a while in the early days when the CSS 
property 'inherit' was misinterpreted as a badly spelled colour name :)

The names are fairly useless as names, but they should perhaps be thought of 
more as predefined constant colours.  In any case, they're rarely used these 
days, in HTML at least but still work perfectly well in most browsers.  
They're also the names you use to set colours for say, emacs, and probably 
other things that read Xdefaults (although I don't use any others of those 
anymore to know for sure :).
