Instead of starting a new project, why don't you help with the Italian 
translation? There's still a lot of work to be done there. They currently 
only have two thirds of the GUI translated and far less of the documentation, 
according to the stats. I'm sure they would appreciate your help - especially 
as you are prepared to take on a whole new module.
