I always thought that "Next" was an adjective in this case, and not an
adverb.
The normal couples of words are (at least in Italian):
"Back" vs. "Forward" (adverbs)
"Previous" vs. "Next" (adjectives)

So, using the couple "back"/"next" is not correct, IMHO.

PS: I just checked an English WinNT. It uses "back"/"next". Ouch!
