What I had in mind was actually a stable 3.0.1 kdeedu module (provided by 
bero, if possible ;-) and some selfcompiled additional applications from CVS, 
that are stable, but didn't make it into KDE 3.0.1 (compiled by matze and 
me).
Additionally we'll have another demopoint with recent CVS on, so newer 
versions of apps that are part of 3.0.1 can be shown there. The main reason 
is, that we don't want to have recompilations on the main demopoints during 
the show - we had a lot of problems with unstable software last time.
And there also is a sperate table for developers who can have their own CVS 
and who can recompile as much as they want.

Yes, the installation is very easy (it simply installs everything ;-) and you 
can play tetris during installation :-))

What I was talking about was the system configuration on a running system. 
Well, I already heard Bero is working on it.
