I still can't reproduce this crash here, maybe you use latest cvs sources 
whereas I have beta1-rpms from december. So I ask you to apply the following 
which is the only thing I can imagine as the problem.

In kvt-core/kvoctraindoc.cpp, around line 170, move "detectFT()" into the 
if-block like this:

  if (!mainfile.isEmpty()) {
    FileType ft = detectFT(filename);
    QFile f( filename );

I can't commit to cvs since yesterday. Has anyone the same problem or maybe 
an idea why?
