I think part of the problem is it seems people work from the name of the 
executable, then the name gets changed later on, so the following become 
inconsistent:

.desktop description
Title bar
Help about
Contents of Help about
Dialog text within the app
References in other apps

For example KDE Screen Ruler still has K-Ruler at the head of it's menu and 
KIconEdit changes it's title bar depending on the .desktop name.
