Just thought of something else when discussing this with danimo:
* Does kate or kedit automatically add .txt when you choose a filename to save under ?
AFAIK they don't. Why ? Because it's bad behaviour to try and force things upon
the user. Text files don't _need_ to be named .txt, just like KOffice files don't _need_
an extension either.
* About your case with a kspread file named .kwd ... What happens if you
use a text editor and save the result as "foo.jpg" ? Yes, it'll be treated like
a JPG file... Just saying this isn't a KOffice-only issue - and that if something
should be changed, then it should be changed everywhere, not just in KOffice.
Consistency :)
