Yes, I know. But my /etc/passwd defines /bin/bash to be my preferred
shell and I expected the xsession to be started through a bash in which
case .profile would have been sourced.

Then I wouldn't have put my definitiones in ~/.profile and /etc/passwd
would mention /bin/csh.  :-)

Ohh, yes. That's what SuSE has put into my ~/.xsession. Which makes me
again wonder, why KDEDIR could have been unset and have made the
help io-slave die expectedly.
