I'm having a problem w/forte 4 java under kwin. I have not run forte 4 java
for some time, so I do not know when the problem started. Anyway, forte has
many windows which open at startup. My problem is that some of the windows
(seemingly random) decide to run away when I switch views within the ide.
They slowly move to the bottom right, until they are gone.
Here is what xprop tells me about some of the windows.. (i've trimmed a
little out to make this email not quite so enormous.)
This window stays in place:
[deneen@deneen ~]$ xprop
_KDE_NET_WM_FRAME_STRUT(CARDINAL) = 4, 4, 22, 4
WM_STATE(WM_STATE):
window state: Normal
icon window: 0x0
_MOTIF_WM_MESSAGES(ATOM) = _MOTIF_WM_OFFSET, _JAVA_IM_MSG
WM_PROTOCOLS(ATOM): protocols _MOTIF_WM_MESSAGES, WM_DELETE_WINDOW
_MOTIF_WM_MENU(STRING) = "Select\\ Input\\ Method f.send_msg 409"
_MOTIF_WM_HINTS(_MOTIF_WM_HINTS) = 0x2, 0xffffffff, 0x1, 0xffffffff, 0x0
WM_CLIENT_LEADER(WINDOW): window id # 0x2e001d2
WM_LOCALE_NAME(STRING) = "C"
WM_CLASS(STRING) = "AWTapp", "VendorShell"
WM_HINTS(WM_HINTS):
Client accepts input or input focus: True
Initial state is Normal State.
WM_NORMAL_HINTS(WM_SIZE_HINTS):

window gravity: NorthWest
WM_NAME(COMPOUND_TEXT) = 0x45, 0x78, 0x70, 0x6c, 0x6f, 0x72, 0x65, 0x72,

I had read at http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-cvs&m=98512256028075&w=2 that
AWTapp was treated special, so I updated kwin from cvs, and restarted kde. I
had the same result. xprop shows that these are both within that fix but I
think that fix is for initial size of the window. I don't see anything funny
in the window properties...
I'm using IBM jdk 1.3.0 on linux. Forte (amazingly) does not run for me w/
Sun's JDK 1.3_02.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Mark Deneen
