Hi all,

I've asked a smilar question some weeks ago without a sufficient
answer. So if there's a better place for the question please give me
a hint.

I've created a binary distribution of KDE2.1 for Solaris8/Sparc. I've
installed both openwin (Suns own X11R6 implementation) and a third
party X11R6. Now some people complain about wrong X libraries
versions of some programs. I've checked this with ldd and can't
understand what I see.

mathias@homer ldd kde-config | grep libXext
        libXext.so.0 =>  /usr/lib/libXext.so.0
mathias@homer ldd pixie | grep libXext
        libXext.so.6.4 =>        /opt1/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6.4
        libXext.so.0 =>  /usr/lib/libXext.so.0
mathias@homer

Why are some programs linked against libXext.so.0, other against both
libXext.so.6.4 and libXext.so.0 ?

Is the native libXext.so.0 buggy or misses it some features?

Mathias
