You first have to make a distinction between application/common options, and
printer options (which are on a per printer basis). Common options appear in the
main print dialog, where developers can also plug additional pages. Printer options
appear in a separate dialog opened when clicking on a "Properties" button.
The common options can be saved in the application config file, like KFileDialog
does it. But printer options shouldn't: they can be instead saved in a global file
which can be accessed by all KDE programs. For those who are familiar with
CUPS, I mean to extent the role of ".lpoptions" file to other print systems.
