I downloaded the Suse 7.0 XFree 4.0.1 rpms over night and the problem exists
too.

Is this a server problem, a video driver problem or some bug in artsd /
mpeg, which is triggered by some unknown situation ?

If it is the an mpeg-plugin / artsd, how could I help debug it, otherwise
what can I do ? (except buying another graphics card and hope that X works
with it correctly).

I have made three screenshots, available at:
http://stud3.tuwien.ac.at/~e9925371/temporary/mpg-prob.html

As stated in previos mails killing and restarting artsd helps.

(sorry for my bad English)

Kind regards
Joseph Wenninger

I had tested this after your first bug report.
But I didn't have this problem.
Nvidea TNT2 , XFree 4.0.1. Dual Pentium.

Most likley a bug in XFree 4.0. Use 4.0.1
