I've now had a chance to try running KDE2 on a pure 8-bit Sparc with
Solaris and on a Linux box running XF86 at 8bpp. And this may clear up
where a couple of the issues come from.
1) Background colours.
These are scrambled on both systems. It looks as if blue shows as red
and red as blue. In the control centre, the preview shows wrong (same
as the real background) while the colour of the menu button is right.
2) White text in HTML
This is a specifically Solaris problem. Any HTML page without an
explicit text colour is rendered with white rather than black text.
Explicitly set text colours are correctly rendered.
