Another problem which causes major pain is this: The Tru64 linker doesn't
like empty object files. Some source files effectively are empty
(everything is #ifdef'd out) and cause gcc to produce an almost empty
object file. The linker complains with this and bails out:

dcop/.libs/libDCOP.so -L/usr/local/kde2/lib -lSM -lICE -lqt -lpng -lz -lm
-lXext -lX11 -ldnet_stub -Wl,-rpath -Wl,/usr/local/kde2/lib
/usr/bin/ld:
No symbolic information for: dmalloc.lo <----------------
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
gmake[3]: *** [libkdecore.la.closure] Error 1
gmake[3]: Leaving directory `/home/kde2/kdelibs/kdecore'
gmake[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/home/kde2/kdelibs/kdecore'
gmake[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/home/kde2/kdelibs'
gmake: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

Any idea anyone how to circumvent this?

Thanks // Tom
