The xpm/png output is normal (KIconLoader first strips the extension
then tries for both xpm and png's). 

The next step is connecting to kded. Is it running? The strace output
isn't telling me much personally ;-)

BTW: I fixed that duplicate style loading you see in your output
yesterday :)
