As far as I could see you have problem with utmp - there are some missing
functions for that under Slackware it seems.

Slackware 4.0 is a libc5 distro (right?); I remember it used to compile without
problems. Does anyone knows a fix for that? Is there some config option to
disable utmp for kvt/konsole?
