Ew, why work on a proprietary protocol that requires a 13mb download? Have
you seen the dictionary "protocol" it's even got a nice RFC (2229), and is
in use by dict.org and possibly other sites, an example server and client
are also available for download.


dict.org has 8 databases and 8 different matching methods (including POSIX
regexps, and what appears to be phonetic matching):
