So then we release "KOffice pre-release (Hindenburg)". Which came first?

The advantage of a number is that it is very clear which is the newer one.

Personally, I think waiting for 1.89 is MUCH MUCH too long to wait. We
should shoot for the end of June. Keep in mind that kdelibs does not have
to be stable -- just the code that KOffice uses needs to be.

Here's my idea:

1) Evaluate the features/bugs in KOffice right now. Try to fix the major
   bugs.

2) At some point (a few weeks before the release), evaluate how stable the
system INCLUDING Qt and kdelib is. If it works, FREEZE the code for
   the release.

This does not mean freeze CVS. Just copy over all of the necessary files
   and freeze that.

3) Rename the frozen kdelibs to some unique name that shows that it is for
that release only (libkdecore-ko1). Do the same for Qt if 2.0 is not
yet out. This is to prevent those libraries from being used when the
"official" kde libs are released later.

4) Release *exactly* that code that is necessary to run KOffice.

I'd almost go as far as suggesting that we make a "special" version of kdelibs
JUST for the KOffice release that contains ONLY those classes the KOffice
uses. That way the size would be kept waaaay down.

Comments so far?
