Well, it hasn't improved. Worse, it has currently gone backwards :
in KDE-1.1.x, kfm merges global and local dirs but this is not (yet?) implemented
in konqueror. So currently we're back to the 1.0 situation :
one has to create a mimetype in its local dir, and create its parent dir
if it doesn't exist yet.

>From the developer point of view, mimetypes have much improved
(kmimetypes.h in libkio).

But for the user we still have to come up with something better.
Old way is awful, but merging dirs has been critised a lot as well.
Perhaps a configuration dialog box (which would do in the background
what has to be done manually) would be better ?

It would show the global & local mimetypes, and allow to create a new (local) 
one ... and would then popup the properties dialog to edit it.

Opinions ?
