Let's build a frontend that can export the whole db or parts oft it 
(e.g. only the data of a specific program) to a textfile. Then you 
can perform your changes with awk, sed, vi or any other tool and 
reload it back into the db, afterwards.

Of course there has to be some integrated backup mechanism.
