I think the not raised look is much nicer than the old one, but how about
adding an etched in groove between the menubar and the tool bar? I think this
would look better. I also notice that at the bottom right hand corner of the
toolbar in the gif you can see that the toolbar extends one pixel below where
it should.

To rebind tab you may need to add an event filter to look for the keyboard
events (I agree with you that using 'Tab' for completions is a good idea).
Have a look at the source for QLineEd as this rebinds Tab from focus changing.
