I think this is just a misconception of the word "cruft" - which
according to Webster's doesn't even exist :-P

He's probably talking about "the whole megillah" (yiddish, but the only
english idiom near "dem ganzen Rattenschwanz" that i know)

Since kmail drags in akonadi + nepomuk (don't argue, there's probably a
bug but w/o nepomuk at least kmail2 will exit on a "directory
permission" error, what's not a very helpful statement btw.) as well as
therefore two (!) full blown databases to, in doubt and this very case,
just check some imap account(s), that tag could hardly be denied (and
is probably the source of this thread)

The term "cruft" is rather inappropriate or at least offending  [1]  but
from his reply i'd say that he's not aware of that.
