This is an interesting idea, I like it, but I would go one further... this
brought up an idea in my head immediately,
our current kickoff has favorites and recent tabs, which people have their
choice among, but how about a "New" tab - I find the biggest problem I have
with kickoff is finding out where a package I just loaded put it's menu item
(this affects other menu programs like lancelot as well) searching finds me
the thing and I can then possibly favorite it - but it doesn't tell me where
it found it.

Having a tab to just show items added since the last time you opened kickoff
(or if that's to short, the last time you logged into KDE ?) that also
mentions in which category they were placed would be a great headache saver
in my view.

Of course, there is always that line between "too much" and "not enough"
when it comes to features but this one I think would really be useful,
especially for n00bs and actually give us a definitive edge over that other
OS's desktop where new apps get burried somewhere in the menu ... usually
under the name of the company that wrote them.
They ended up adding the "new applications" popup, and putting submenu's
with new entries and the new entries themselves in bold, which at least
helped one see where new stuff was put.
KDE doesn't really offer a way to do this a.t.m. but I think a tab would be
a nicer way to achieve the same.

Obviously this feature should only kick in after the SECOND log in, as the
first one is likely to have every package that came with the distro and they
shouldn't ALL be marked as "new".

Ciao
