...which is an excellent reason to modify your strategy when one has 
started :-). That was part of my suggestion (or at least intended to be, 
though I didn't really state so explicitly). But it sounds like you've 
figured that out already, which is good.

...from my experience, as well. (Better said: non-verbal communication. 
Human verbal communication carries a lot of meaning in non-verbal cues; 
text-only communication is an entirely different animal. Unfortunately 
much internet communication tends to consist of people attempting verbal 
communication with only one of the channels it's intended to use, which 
results in a lot of information loss. IMO we as a society/species have 
not really adapted yet to this form of communication. The Internet age 
only represents at best a few generations, which is OK for learned 
behavior but amounts to nothing for adapted behavior. Worse, I can't 
think of much in modern society that provides for a selection mechanism 
here...)
