Seeing as no one replies, I'll chime in without much insight :)

I don't have the problem on Kubuntu Feisty Fawn after having followed the 
TechBase tutorial. My libclucene is 0.9.16a-1 from the Ubuntu repos.

If you too followed the TechBase tutorial, check if the .bashrc provided has 
been updated after you started using it. You may then need to update yours, I 
guess.
