I got the same error and used Matthew's workaround, but you must
remember to *remove* the comment sign, otherwise it stays in your
working copy of CMakeLists.txt. and could cause problems in future
days and weeks.  And you might accidentally commit it one day ... :-(

BTW, is there some smarter way to step around a program or library
item that fails to compile, but you do not immediately need it?

It happens a lot to me, because I am working on one app in a module
of many independently developed and maintained apps.
