Hi,

It has long bugged me that gnome/gtk has "trash" files in ~/.Trash and that
kde/qt put these files in ~/.local?

What is the reason for having 2 differing solutions to one simple problem?

Is there any particular technical advantages betweens these two approaches?

Is there any reason why kde4 can't have a better unified solution?

Is there any reason we couldn't adopt .Trash? [I have no idea if .local has
technical advantages over .local, I just know that kde4 will arrive before
gnome3]

Some examples?
Deleting file in amarok from within gnome. [Files in .local when gnome trash
opens .Trash]
Deleting files in both amarok and rhythmbox ending up in separate directories,
regardless of running gnome/kde/RandomWM.

I find it really annoying as a user, and I'm sure many users have diskspace
being used, when the trash applets tells them there is no trash.

Cheers,

Lexual.
