I upgraded PCRE to 7.1 and Konqueror won't start from the menu.

I get the error message:

There was an error loading the module About-Page for Konqueror.
The diagnostics is:
/usr/lib/libpcreposix.so.0: undefined symbol: pcre_compile2

However, opening it from the command line in a Konsole works.

This appears to be a binary compatibility issue. I quote from:

http://cluedenver.org/pipermail/clue-tech/2005-July/000023.html

The latest PCRE does provide pcre_compile2 -- it adds a new pointer
argument (the 3rd int *
argument) for returning error numbers (per the documentation).

I think that this refers to the 6.x version of PCRE. This appears to be
an old problem.
