That is odd (considering the error message), but I will try it later
today and post my results.

Probably, but I am first posting it as a build report (I don't subscribe
to *every* mailing list), and posting here.

Actually, that would be fixing the problem. :-)
Hacking of the 'configure' script is done to ignore tests.
