That's a subjective question. Of course they will make code more 
unreadable -- to me. To another programmer, they may as well make it more 
readable.

But, fact is, you must not let exceptions go back into the Qt event loop, 
unless you're going to quit the application right afterwards. And make 
sure that, if you throw from a slot, that there is no queued connection 
in place.
