FWIW, I find Gamin about as unreliable as FAM on Kubuntu Breezy.

Needs a 'pkill gam_server' two, maybe three, times a day here, or
parts of the desktop appear to lock up.

(Usually have to do it when I'm trying to use KMail or Konqueror).
