you wanted to write "should"? ^^^
For me executing the above code results in:
$ ./a.out
outputting language list
en_US
switching locale to 'it_IT@euro'
current language is...
it_IT@euro
$
even if I don't have "it_IT@euro" installed. Weird. BTW, does setting "it"
work ok?
