I can reproduce the crash. This is a SuSE 9.3. The crash occurs not only with 
german localization. I have also tested with the default locale C. Strange if 
only SuSE users are affected.
BTW, if it wasn't for Your mail I would never have noticed that. Why should I 
want to type a '^' into kwordquiz?
