I guess you're looking for the equivalent of the german term "Naher Osten"
or the french "proche-orient"? 
That's "Middle East" in english.  See the last paragraph of the 
german Wikipedia entry on "Naher Osten":

I agree with putting the Turkish entry where the people who are to find
it will most probably look for it (Southern Europe from what has 
been said).  Sounds logical to me. :)
