I wasn't sure whether it would actually fix your problem or not. I had come 
from the problem from the other end - where were my menu entries?

Now I've just learn't something as well - I should look more closely at 
startkde next time. I was trying to use .kde/Autostart/ but it was too late 
in the boot process.
