I'm not sure that this is the best option for the 14 base PostScript fonts:

Times-Roman
Times-Italic
Times-Bold
Times-BoldItalic
Helvetica
Helvetica-Oblique
Helvetica-Bold
Helvetica-BoldOblique
Courier
Courier-Oblique
Courier-Bold
Courier-BoldOblique
Symbol
ZapfDingbats

To best emulate the rendering of Adobe Acrobat reader, I suggest that
there should be specific substitutions for these rather than leaving it
to FontConfig. For the first 12 it should use:

TimesNewRomanPSMT
TimesNewRomanPS-ItalicMT
TimesNewRomanPS-BoldMT
TimesNewRomanPS-BoldItalicMT
ArialMT
Arial-ItalicMT
Arial-BoldMT
Arial-BoldItalicMT
CourierNewPSMT
CourierNewPS-ItalicMT
CourierNewPS-BoldMT
CourierNewPS-BoldItalicMT

if found and if these are not found, it should use the URW clones. Yes,
I mean that it should NOT use those (old) fonts even if found, it should
substitute the new fonts as Acrobat Reader would do.

For the last two, it should use the exact font or if not found it should
use the URW clones.

Does it use the: "/etc/xpdfrc" file for this lookup? Or, is there a
"kpdf.rc" file somewhere. I didn't find one under

	$KDEDIR/share/apps/kpdf.

When I am not able to help someone on one of the two support lists, I
ask here in the hope that someone will know the answer. I see nothing
wrong with this method.

Actually, when a user has a problem that is not easily solved, it can,
and often does, become a developer issue.

You have to install the fonts that come with Acrobat Reader 3.x for
Windows in your (X fonts) Type1 directory along with the AFM files from
Adobe. Then it works at least it works for me.

Thanks for the assistance.
