File extension first, if known, otherwise from the content, for local files.

Then it means it's not a known extension... I don't understand the question.

?? That shouldn't happen. Is that with your kioslave or with kio_ftp?
Do you see what's happening (is a get request issued?).
KonqRun / KRun is involved here: it starts to download the file and... oh,
did you forget to emit mimeType() from get()? This is mandatory.
