Hi,

(I just mailed kmail-devel about this, but it fits in the discussion).

I took another approach have an implementation of inverted files (a way to do 
an index) as a separate lib instead of relying on an external database.

It is available at http://luispedro.org/software/index/.

BTW, now is probably a nice time to start thinking about these things if they 
are to be ready for 4.0.
