Ok, there are number of issues:
Note: I'm trying to retranslate the captions of the application from German
back to English, so may not be correct.
1) What is the difference between
a) Energy Controls (Energiekontrolle) -> Not plugged in (Nicht Eingesteckt)
and
b) Standard Power Profiles (Standard Stromprofile) -> Not plugged in (Nicht
Eingesteckt)
Both offer CPU Throttling.
2) At 1a: what does Waiting (Warten) means?
3) If I try to use automatic throttling with 1a it never works.
4) If I try to use automatic throttling with 1b it sometimes works. I think it
set the correct throttling if I change the KLaptop settings, but it changes
nothing when I just change the power status.
5) /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/AC/state gives the correct state.
So far, these are my questions. The notebook is a Dell Inspiron 8600 with
Pentium M Dothan processor. Kernel is 2.6.9 self compiled on a recent Gentoo
box. If you need kernel configs, please just ask me.
Thanks,
Florian
