Hi all,

I'm trying to use a keyboard attached barcode reader (DigiPos SD 730)
under KDE (3.3 or 3.2) but it doesn't work correctly.

The barcode reader needs no extra driver because it is connected (in
series) via the keyboard. It works fine on a Linux console, it works
fine in X (Xfree 4.3.0) if I use a simple windowmanager like twm or
fvmw.

But when used within a KDE session it starts reading the barcode and
then it doesn't stop. It just spits out "0"'s or "Return"'s until I
press Crtl-C. I fiddled around a little bit with the xkb settings
(disabled/enabled) but it doesn't help.

As a next step I started a simple X session with only some xterms (no
window manager) and executed the commands from /usr/bin/startkde one by
one.

When I reach the line

  LD_BIND_NOW=true kdeinit +kcminit +knotify

  (line 164 on a Debian/sarge installed KDE 3.2)

the barcode reader stops working.

Any hints?

my setup:
Debian/sarge, xfree debian package: 4.3.0.dfsg.1, kde: 3.2.2-1 (but
also doesn't work with 3.3), german pc105 keyboard.

Thanks in advance

Albrecht
