Thanks, but I need a general method.

Let me explain more clearly with an example.

I have a list of windows (WId), as returned by KWinModule::windows().
Suppose there are two konqueror windows, and three gimp windows.
How do I detect that the three gimp windows must be grouped together, but the 
konqueror windows must not? 

( Intuitively, the answer is: "because the two konqueror windows are different 
instances of konqueror, whereas the three gimp windows are associated to only 
one instance of gimp". But programmatically, how do I know that? )
