If you're talking about Fedora Core 2 then I wouldn't suggest using it to
anyone whether they want KDE on it or not. If you're talking about Fedora
Core 1 then I'm happily using kde 3.1 and 3.2 with it (packages from
ftp.kde.org) and I don't see a problem.

You shouldn't expect Fedora packages to work on a system which is not Fedora,
i.e. has a glibc compiled by yourself, etc. There seem to be significant
binary incompatibilities between glibc that ships with FC1 vs. glibc that
shipped on RH9, and typically you can't run FC1 packages on an RH9 system nor
vice versa.

If it's for Fedora 1, use it with Fedora 1. It's not supposed to work anywhere
else and I believe all it takes is "rpmbuild--rebuild kde-...src.rpm" in
order to build it on RedHat 9. Didn't try it like that, but it's at least
worth a try. Make sure to change ownership of /usr/src/redhat to either
yourself or a dedicated packaging user, it's not wise nor safe at all to use
rpmbuild as root. Some serious packaging problems can escape you if you do.
Been there done that for mingw gcc crosscompiler, that is :)
