I firmly fall into this camp.  I've stopped using GNOME almost completely 
because the "One True Setting" has changed from something *I* wanted to 
something that a developer decided was best for me...   If you want, put it 
in a "Expert" configuration page or have a global KDE option to show choose 
between:
    -  Show all expert settings
  and 
    - Let KDE choose sensible defaults for you.
