You have a valid point.  Windows and OSX include this functionality so KDE should as well.

The only problem is that these applications might still be Linux only, and they are not 
going to get added to those modules if that is the case.

There is a possible compromise.  We could start a KDE-Linux and (maybe) a KDE-BSD module 
for stuff that would only work if it was OS specific.  Some of this stuff is going to be 
Intel x86 specific -- some XINE stuff is x86 specific but that issue is offloaded to the 
library.  So maybe a better idea is to have only one module: KDE-OS/arch-specific and have 
the configure script determine what can be built.  Sort of messy isn't it. :-)  But, I 
can't come up with a better idea at the moment.
