It turns out that it's not that simple. :(

Try running it yourself: kfmexec openURL gg:google

On my system, it tells me that gg: is an unknown protocol (and of course, it's
right. gg: isn't a protocol, it's a web shortcut, which is Konqueror-only.).

As it stands, I was able to code a simple applet that does pretty much what
you've outlined in your e-mail. Middle-clicking will Google the contents of
the clipboard, while left-clicking will open a new Google window.

There are two problems with the code:
1. Loading the icon seems to fail no matter what I do. Loading the applet
gives me a nice page icon, instead of the expected Google icon. :(

2. The width and heights I had to hardcode in because of runaway growth, which
I though was rather odd...

I'm sort of at the end of my Automake mojo. Henrique, feel free to fix these
problems and otherwise take over from here. Jason: Although Konqueror does
go right to a link if it's valid on a middle-click, it doesn't redirect to
Google (for me, anyways) if the attempted load failed. So it looks like
there may still be a use for an applet like this.

Anyways, it's at two places on the Internet:
1. http://grammarian.homelinux.net/ksearchapplet-0.1.tar.gz
2. http://www.unf.edu/~pynm0001/ksearchapplet-0.1.tar.gz

The archive is about 556K, which rather surprised me. It's mainly because of
the ac*.m4 files, and the configure script.

Please let me know if there are any problems or suggestions.
