Wouldn't it be nice to have audio and image filter plugins at one place and 
integrated into the KDE framework? I mean to have a folder or something where 
you can drop new plugins and a filter factory providing a combobox action 
listing all available filters. So every application could provide these 
filters by simply adding this action to its GUI and using signal/slot or 
whatever to react on a "plugin selected" event. Would an ImageViewer-KPart be 
a good start? Since I'm in signal processing I could do some nice stuff here, 
but I'm not sure about a good framework...
