Hi all, hi Waldo,

I added the <MergeFile> line to

/etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu

and it worked for a few days. But now the menus are clumsy again and
can't find any way to get them in order. There is no change in
the .menu definitions.

One possible cause, however, could be that I still work in a mixed
system, running KDE 3.1.4 (in SuSE 9.0) as a basis and switch over to a
KDE 3.1.92 debug system by changing the .profilerc and .bashrc settings.
KDE 3.1.92 uses its own local settings directory then:
.devkde instead of .kde
so there should be no interferences.

There is a normal (non-debug) KDE 3.1.92 user set up as well which shows
the same menu behaviour. This user is also called from a 3.1.4 kdm,
however.

I also did have a look at the "Desktop Entry Standard" and "Desktop Menu
Specification" drafts but could find no clue.

Bernd
