I was about to send a message about this issue when I read this message...

One of the features KDE is missing is removable media automounting and I'm 
interested in implementing this. There are, however, some considerations on 
how it should be done. Below I list my ideas of possibilities for this 
implementation:

1) A standalone program, like kdenonbeta/kautorun: probably the easiest way, 
but it would also miss integration with the underlying system (KDE);

2) A KDED module: really simple. it would quietly wait for media to be 
inserted and make the appropriate dcop calls to have [media]/autorun.sh 
executed or a Konqueror window open at the mount point;

3) An extension for the mountwatcher KDED module: the same as above, with the 
difference that it would be part of mountwatcher.

Any ideas/comments/rants?
